Kannur (Kerala):The police have registered a case against a school teacher on charges of sexual abusing of a nine-year-old girl student at Panoor in Kannur district of Kerala.
The accused has absconded after the incident came to light.
According to Kolavallur police, the accused was identified as Padmanabhan, 42, a native of Kadavathur in Kannur.
Padmanabhan is a teacher at Palathayi school and also the President of BJP Thrippangottur panchayat committee.
He has been charged under relevant sections of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POSCO) Act.

According to the complaint received by the police, the girl was sexually abused at the school during National Service Scheme (NSS) camp.
The investigation team has recorded the statement of the girl.
The school management informed that the teacher has been suspended pending investigation.
