SC sends notice to Prashant Bhushan over AG's contempt pleas

Hearing the matter, a bench of Justices Arun Mishra and Navin Singh, decided to discuss the larger issue of lawyers making comments regarding sub judice matters.

AG Venugopal, presenting his arguments, said that he did not want punishment for any individual but wishes to settle the concerned issue.

Meanwhile, Solicitor General Tushar Mehta said that he could quote various instances where lawyers called the apex court judgments as 'black day of the judiciary'.

Issuing the notice to Bhushan, the court has sought a reply within three weeks.

AG Venugopal had earlier filed pleas against Bhushan for tweeting regarding the appointment of M Nageshwar Rao as interim CBI Chief.

The case will now be heard on 7th March.
