Congress has been demanding the withdrawal of Governor Arif Mohamed Khan as he is supporting the Citizenship (Amendment) Act (CAA) which both the ruling and the oppositions are opposing.

"We have been demanding the withdrawal of governor. However, the CPI(M) government and CM is not considering that" Chandy told the media in Delhi.

The Congress leader also said, "The CM and his colleagues are claiming that they have made the governor read the anti-CAA words while the Kerala Legislative Assembly passed a resolution recently. There is nothing significant in making the governor read the resolution. Because the resolution was passed unanimously by the ruling and opposition."

Further adding into his speech, Chandy claimed that the CM should have taken steps to send the governor back.

It is noted that the senior Congress leader of Kerala had reached the capital after the party witnessed internal factional feuds in the southern state.

According to the earlier reports, the Congress high-command had summoned a band of Congress leaders including the leader of opposition Ramesh Chennithala, Former CM Oommen Chandy, Kerala Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) Chief Mullappally Ramachandran, and Benny Behanan the UDF coordinator. The call was for sorting out the internal feuds.
