New Delhi: The Special Cell of the Delhi Police which was probing the alleged Congress toolkit case has decided to end the investigation. The issue initially had stoked a political storm following a tweet by BJP's Sambit Patra. Earlier, a special notice has been issued to Twitter, by the terror unit. Along with that two Congress leaders, who filed a complaint against BJP leaders, have been served notice by the Delhi Police's Special Cell in connection with the alleged toolkit case. However, despite a two month investigation, the Special Cell did not get any specific information in this case. On the other hand, the leaders of the Congress party too didn't want any further action. As a result, the investigation has been dropped.
According to the police, BJP spokesperson Sambit Patra had tweeted an alleged toolkit a few months back, accusing the Congress of trying to defame the image of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Following the row, Congress objecting to the tweet, had approached Delhi Police to register an FIR against Patra, BJP national President J.P. Nadda, party leader B.L. Santhosh, Union Minister Smriti Irani, and others for forgery. Also, Twitter had described the tweet of BJP spokesperson Sambit Patra as "manipulated media". This led to the investigation of this case being handed over to the special cell from the local police.
