Curfew in Delhi from tonight till midnight of April 26

New Delhi: Curfew has been imposed for a week in view of the rising Coronavirus cases in Delhi. The decision has been taken following a meeting of Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and Lieutenant Governor Anil Baijal.

Corona cases in the national capital are advancing at a record pace, with more than a thousand new cases being registered every hour. In view of this, the Delhi government has imposed a curfew for the next week. The curfew will remain in place from tonight till midnight of April 26.

Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal officially announced that the lockdown would be imposed from 10 pm tonight to 6 am next Monday (26th April) and has requested the public to follow Covid appropriate behaviour.

"In the last 24 hours, around 23,500 cases were reported. In the last 3-4 days, around 25,000 cases have been reported. Positivity rate & infection have increased. If 25,000 patients come every day then the system will crumble, there's a shortage of beds. Essential services, food services, medical services will continue. Weddings can be held with a gathering of only 50 people, passes will be issued separately for it. A detailed order will be issued shortly," the Delhi CM said, adding that he requests all migrant workers not to leave Delhi as it's just a six-day lockdown and that the government will take care of all their issues.

India reported 2,73,810 new COVID19 cases, 1,619 fatalities and 1,44,178 discharges in the last 24 hours.

According to the Union Health Ministry - Total cases are 1,50,61,919, Active cases are 19,29,329, Total recoveries are 1,29,53,821, the Death toll is 1,78,769 and the Total vaccinated are 12,38,52,566.
