Chennai (Tamil Nadu):Transfer Certificate which is mandatory for students to gain admission into new schools is not required henceforth in Tamil Nadu, says a senior official from the TN School Education Department. Following the Coronavirus pandemic, government and aided schools witnessed a drastic increase in admissions, with parents having incurred job losses and other financial troubles.
Earlier, TC was required to get admission to government elementary and middle school level, however, following complaints by parents, now TC is not mandatory for students in high school level joining state-run institutions, the Education Department official said, adding only Aadhaar number is required for the students who seek admissions. He also added that the details of the students and their Aadhaar numbers could be accessed using Educational Management Information System (EMIS), a common online platform that connects schools, teachers and students.
