Bhubaneshwar: The students of IIT Bhubaneshwar has opposed to conducting their final examination online. As they have pleaded the authorities to take on other modes of assessment to help them to get their degree on time.
As students claim that, over 65% of the 240 final year students will not be able to arrange the necessities for the online examination which is scheduled to be held on June 24.
On questioning on the above regarding the online examination through a third – party solution, the students said that, they wanted to graduate by the end of this month (June), so that they could join the companies which had offered them jobs.
In Response, the IIT said in a press release. The Senate had decided to conduct the end semester examinations for the outgoing students by online mode to facilitate their timely graduation.
“The decision in favour of holding the examination was taken by the Senate to uphold the rules of the institute and to graduate the students without compromising on the standards of evaluation,” it said.
Two alternative examinations were scheduled, one from June 24 and another during the end of July or the first week of August. To facilitate the students facing the logistics issues to take any one of the examinations. If the covid-19 pandemic situation improved, a student may also have the option to come to the campus and take the second examination, the Institute said.
