WATCH: This UP man fasts for Big B for the last 14 years

Gowardhan Bhojwani, 40, hailing from Uttar Pradesh's Bareilly fast for the actor Amitabh Bachchan for the last 14 years. The die-hard fan follows all the tradition that a woman follows during the fast.

Bareilly (Uttar Pradesh):India is a land of tradition and cultures. The reflection of our culture can be best seen during the festive seasons. We left no stone unturned to cherish the festival. In in the mid of October, a festival called Karwa Chauth is very popular among the North-Indians.

It is a festival that every Indian woman looks forward to. A typical Indian woman is described to be so devoted to her husband that all her prayers channel to his safety and well-being.

Karva Chauth is the day that symbolizes the love and devotion of an Indian woman towards her husband. On this day, women fast for the entire day without having a sip of water until the moon appears which is when her husband feeds her the first morsel of food.

Though, in this festival generally women fast for her hubby, but, a man of Uttar Pradesh's Bareilly, fast for the well being of 'Big B', i.e Amitabh Bachchan for the last 14 years.

40-years old, Gowardhan Bhojwani, a businessman by profession, looks very similar to Big B, is a die-hard fan of Mr Bachachan. He not only keeps the hairstyle and beard as same as Amitabh but also follows all the dignities that the actor maintains.

Due to his immense affection towards Mr Bachchan, he started a tradition of keeping fast since he watched his blockbuster movie- 'Baagban'. In the movie, Big B said, "Karwa Chauth is not only the festival of keeping fast by women, but every man must also fast if he loves his wife."

These lines inspired him so much that he started fasting for his wife and Big B.

When ETV Bharat spoked to him about the fact of keeping fast, he said, "I am fasting for Big B after watching his movie- Baagban. I used to follow all the tradition, that my wife does for me. "

The die-hard fan also got four opportunities of meeting Mr Bachachan during his concert in Bareilly, Agra, Nanital and Mumbai.

Some facts about 'Karwa Chauth'

According to the Indian Lunar calendar, Karva Chauth is celebrated on the fourth day of the waning moon in the Kartik month. This day falls somewhere in October or November as per the Gregorian calendar. Usually, it falls nine days before another festival called Diwali.

Dominantly this festival is celebrated in the Indian state of Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh, Himachal Pradesh, Haryana, Punjab, Rajasthan and Gujarat. However, today because of cultures and traditions moving from place to place, it is celebrated almost everywhere in India.
