New independent director for Jet Airways very soon: Sources

In the meeting it was decided that an Interim management team of jet airways will be formed. The State Bank of India sources have told that cash-crunched airline will get its new independent director within two days.

New Delhi: A day after Jet Airways Chairman Naresh Goyal and his wife Anita holding 51 per cent of the equity resigned from the board and transferred control to the lenders, a meeting was called by Aviation Secretary with Jet management and SBI chairman Rajnish Kumar to discussion on the operational, resolution plan and interim funding for Jet Airways.

In a three-hour long meeting it was decided that an Interim management team of jet airways will be formed. The State Bank of India sources have told that cash-crunched airline will get its new independent director within two days.

Sources also told that they also chalked out a plan to payback salaries to Jet Airways pilots, along with aircraft maintenance engineers (AMEs) and senior management who have salary dues of almost four months now.

In the meeting it was also planned that how many Jet aircrafts will be back into the operations. As of now Jet Airways has only 41 aircraft in its fleet for operations, out of around 120 planes.

Ministry sources have also told us that that they are keeping close watch and has been watching the entire Jet Airways situation. Ministry focus is now mainly on the passengers and not on the financial side.
