New Delhi: Auto sales in February have been largely declining due to the outbreak of coronavirus in China. COVID-19 also impacted supply of certain components for production of BS-VI vehicles.
Bajaj Auto sales drops 10% to 3,54,913 units
Bajaj Auto on Monday reported 10 per cent decline in total sales at 3,54,913 units in February as against 3,93,089 units in the same month last year.
Total domestic sales declined by 24 per cent at 1,68,747 units last month as compared to 2,21,706 units in February 2019, Bajaj Auto said in a statement.
The company further said its total two-wheeler sales were down 5 per cent at 3,10,222 units as compared to 3,27,985 units in the year-ago month.
TVS Motor sales down 15% at 2,53,261 units
TVS Motor Company reported 15.39 per cent decline in total sales at 2,53,261 units in February on account of BS-IV reduction and impact of parts supply disruption due to coronavirus outbreak.
The company had sold 2,99,353 units in February 2019, TVS Motor Co said in a statement.
Ashok Leyland sales down 37% at 11,475 units
Hinduja flagship firm Ashok Leyland reported 37 per cent decline in total sales at 11,475 units in February as against 18,245 units in the same month last year.
Domestic sales declined 39 per cent to 10,612 units last month as compared to 17,352 units in February 2019, Ashok Leyland said in a statement.
Toyota Kirloskar Motor sales decline 9%
Toyota Kirloskar Motor (TKM) reported a 9.1 per cent decline in total vehicle sales at 11,356 units in February as against 12,497 units in the same month last year.
In the domestic market, the company posted sales of 10,352 units last month, down 11.9 per cent from 11,760 units in February 2019, TKM said in a statement.
Toyota India reports annual sales dip at 11.9%
Toyota India reported that its domestic sales declined 11.9 per cent annually in February to 10,352 units from 11,760 in the same month a year ago.
"Export of Etios, however, increased 36 per cent annually to 1,004 units from 737 units a year ago, said the company in a statement here.
In total, including exports and domestic sales, Toyota sold 11,356 vehicles in February, declining by 9.1 per cent from 12,497 units a year ago.
Hero MotoCorp sales down 19%
The country's largest two-wheeler maker Hero MotoCorp reported a 19.27 per cent decline in total sales at 4,98,242 units in February.
