New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will review the state of the economy with finance minister Nirmala Sitharaman on Tuesday to identify possible policy action including need for another stimulus to push up economic activity in the country.
Sources said that Sitharaman is scheduled to meet Prime Minister Modi on Tuesday evening around 6 pm.
Though, the finance minister is not carrying a specified agenda for discussion with the PM, she is likely to present a picture of the state of the economy and impact on ground and the progress made by various initiatives announced by the government to battle the Covid-19 disruptions.
After announcing the demand generating measures earlier this month, the finance minister had hinted at another stimulus package. This could cover those who have been left untouched from earlier schemes while providing more money into the schemes announced for SMEs.
"...I have not closed the option to come up with one more stimulus," Sitharaman said recently at the virtual launch of the autobiography of 15th Finance Commission chairman N.K. Singh.
