New Delhi:American carrier United Airlines on Thursday announced two non-stop flights from Chicago to New Delhi and from San Francisco to Bengaluru. The Chicago-Delhi route is scheduled to commence this December, while San Francisco-Bengaluru flights are scheduled to begin from spring 2021 ( i.e. between March 20 and June 21).

"These new non stop services will strengthen our International root Network and provide our customers from India with our greater travel choice and the possibility to connect via our hubs to destinations across the Americas," said Marcel Fuchs, United's Managing Director International Sales.

"By introducing the first-ever non-stop service between the two international technology hubs, Bengaluru and San Francisco, we are proud to open up new opportunities for both business and leisure travelers," he added.

United's new services from New Delhi to Chicago and Bengaluru to San Francisco will be operated with Boeing-787 Dreamliner aircraft.

Together with the airline's existing services from New Delhi and Mumbai to New York/Newark and New Delhi to San Francisco, United will offer more non-stop services from India than any other U.S carrier.

Notably, American Airlines had this April deferred the launch of its San Francisco-Bengaluru service to next winter.

Among Indian carriers, only Air India flies nonstop to US destinations like New York, Washington, Chicago and San Francisco. The national carrier is currently operating the route 5X-weekly on board Boeing 777-300ER aircraft.
