New Delhi:The Central Board of Direct Taxes Wednesday extended the date for filing revised and belated income tax returns for FY 2018-19 (AY-2019-20) by two more months.
The CBDT’s order was issued on Wednesday (September 30, 2020), the last day for filing the revised and belated ITRs for AY 2019-20 as per the earlier order.
“On further consideration of genuine difficulties being faced by taxpayers due to the Covid-19 situation, CBDT further extends the due date for furnishing of belated & revised ITRs for Assessment Year 2019-20 from September 30, 2020 to November 30, 2020,” CBDT said in a tweet.
This is the fourth extension in the deadline for filing the revised and belated ITR for AY 2019-20.
The last date for filing such returns is March 31 of the assessment year. However, in view of the difficulties faced by the taxpayers due to Covid-19 global pandemic, the CBDT extended the date from March 31 to June 30, which was again extended to July 31.
