Business Desk, ETV Bharat: India has 828 individuals with at least Rs 1,000 crore in wealth. The combined wealth of these 828 richest people is a staggering $823 billion, equating to one-third of India’s GDP and more than the combined GDP of Pakistan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Afghanistan and Bhutan.
This fact was highlighted by the IIFL Wealth Hurun India Rich List 2020 that was released on Tuesday. The report was based on wealth calculations as of 31 August 2020.

Someone in India is earning Rs 90 crore per hour?
Mukesh Ambani continued to be the richest man in India for the ninth year. But the report went on to say that Ambani managed to add Rs 90 crore per hour since the “March lockdown” to attain a total wealth of Rs 6,58,400 crore as of 31 August.
“Ambani’s wealth is now bigger than the combined wealth of the next 5 in the list,” said the report.
After Ambani, Hinduja Brothers (1.43 lakh crore), Shiv Nadar and family (1.41 lakh crore), Gautam Adani & family (1.40 lakh crore) and Azim Premji (1.14 lakh crore) figure in the top five chart.
The new entry to ‘Top 10’?
Radhakishan Damani, 65, was the only new entry to the Top 10 Rich List 2020 with Rs 87,200 crore of wealth, thanks to the listing of his company Avenue Supermarts.
