Economy starts rolling amidst ‘lockdown dilemma’

As the dilemma to extend or not to extend the current lockdown continues, economic activities start rolling out albeit in a slow and steady manner. Here is a list of some of those activities.

Hyderabad: Restrictions have been relaxed in the third phase of lockdown implemented across the country to prevent the coronavirus epidemic. In such a situation, several economic activities have started to function.

Several companies of different sectors including railways have started resuming operations after getting the approval of the local administration.

These companies have assured that they are fully implementing all the measures given by the government and local administration to protect and prevent the coronavirus infection.

Companies ranging from medicine to alcohol and automobiles to electronic goods and clothes are operating with minimum staff required.

Here is the list of economic activities functioning after the partial lift of lockdown:

Railways:

The Indian Railways has resumed passenger train operations from Tuesday, nearly after two months. The railways opened bookings for passenger services on Monday with 15 trains a day connecting Delhi to Mumbai, Chennai, Bengaluru, Kolkata and other big cities.

Automobile companies:

Maruti Suzuki India, Hyundai, Hero Motocorp, Mercedes-Benz, TVS Motor, Royal Enfield, etc have restarted the production activities at their respective manufacturing units.

Service sector:

Construction activities including roads, irrigation projects, buildings and all kinds of industrial projects; MSMEs are permitted in rural areas. Places or construction sites within the limits of municipal corporations and municipalities, where workers are available on site and no workers are required to be brought in from outside, are carrying out activities.

Agriculture activities:

All agricultural and horticultural activities are fully functional from April 20. These activities include farming operations, agencies engaged in procurement of agriculture products, including MSP operations, 'Mandis' operated by APMCs those notified by the States.

Aviation sector:

According to sources, the government is also planning to allow airline companies to resume domestic flight operations by May 18.
