Wreckage of AN-32 found after 8 days

Parts of the missing IAF AN-32 aircraft have been found north of Lipo in Arunachal Pradesh on Tuesday.

New Delhi:Search operation to find the missing AN-32 aircraft finally came to a halt when its wreckage was spotted by the IAF Mi-17 Helicopter in Arunachal Pradesh on Tuesday.

Indian Air Force on Twitter revealed the information tweeting- The wreckage of the missing AN-32 was spotted today 16 Kms North of Lipo, North East of Tato, at an approximate elevation of 12000 ft, by the IAF Mi-17 Helicopter undertaking search in the expanded search zone.

Efforts are now continuing to establish the status of occupants and establish survivors. Further details will be communicated by the Indian Air Force as the recovery actions progress.

The aerial search operations were severely hampered due to poor weather conditions on Sunday and on Saturday, the IAF had announced a reward of Rs 5 lakh to any person or group providing "credible information" about the missing plane.

The AN-32 aircraft, with 13 personnel onboard was heading toward Mechuka Advanced Landing Ground in Arunachal Pradesh when it lost contact with ground authorities at 1 pm on June 3.

Aerial search and rescue operations entered their ninth day on Tuesday.
