Three booked for duping people in Machilipatnam

Several people in Machilipatnam area were allegedly duped of Rs 19 lakh by a group of touts led by a Hyderabad-based man on the promise of providing high returns to their investments. A case was registered against the accused men and investigation has been ordered.

Machilipatnam: People here were allegedly cheated of Rs 19 lakh by a group led by a Hyderabad-based man on the promise of providing high returns on their investment, police said on Tuesday.

A police officer informed that on the complaint by three residents of Machilipatnam town, a case was registered on Tuesday and investigation has been initiated.

The main accused Arifulla Baig and three others were still at large as a hunt is on to nab them, the police officer added.
