New Delhi:The Supreme Court on Wednesday dismissed the plea filed by newly elected MP from Tamil Nadu, Karti Chidambaram seeking to withdraw 10 crores deposited as security to visit abroad.
The court also said that they intend to increase the amount to 20 crores instead of 10 crores as he is frequently going abroad.
The vacation bench comprising CJI Ranjan Gogoi and Justice Aniruddha Bose also said that he should pay attention his constituency, Sivaganga in Tamil Nadu.
The CBI and ED are probing allegations of irregularities in granting Foreign Investment Promotion Board (FIPB) when P Chidambaram was the finance minister under UPA rule.
In May, the SC bench headed by CJI Ranjan Gogoi had allowed Karti to travel to UK, Germany, France, US and Spain in May and June.
