New Delhi: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) In-charge of Uttar Pradesh Om Mathur said that they always knew that the party was going to perform well and would win more than 300 seats in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, irrespective of what the media had predicted.

Mathur also claimed that the BJP would also win the upcoming state assembly elections. As far as Karnataka and Maharastra were concerned, the party in-charge said that BJP never believed in toppling the government.

He further accused 'Mahagathbandhan' in Uttar Pradesh for playing the caste game. "But the strategy went in vain in front of the developmental works done by BJP in the last five years," he asserted, during an interview with ETV Bharat.

When asked about the turning point of the recently concluded elections, he said, "The public is happy with the development work done by the PM. No one ever thought of sanitation and other basic needs of the common people, Modi is the first one to think of this."

"Common people feel connected to Modi. They can feel a strong leadership in the country," Mathur added.

He also claimed that people will now onwards always prefer Narendra Modi over any other political party because he is the 'man who works with efficiency and is a good leader'.
