Rape accused tries to escape mob, dies

A man accused of attempting to rape died while escaping from the angry mob in Hyderabad. He was accused of attempting to rape a five-year-old child who was his neighbour.

Hyderabad: A 40-year-old rape accused died after he fell on his head while escaping from the angry mob at Dattatreya Colony under Jagadgirigutta police station of Hyderabad in Telangana.

The deceased, Mahipal Reddy, was accused of raping a five-year-old girl.

According to the locals, Mahipal was seen taking the child to the third floor of a building where he attempted to rape the girl. He fled away soon after some local reached the spot. They found the girl with red marks on her body.

The residents started searching for the accused when despite filing a complaint regarding the incident to the police no action was taken.
