Post LS defeat, Moily dons black coat again, aims to help the poor

After suffering a defeat in the recently held Lok Sabha elections, former Karnataka Chief Minister and Union Minister Veerappa Moily is back to the courtroom. In an exclusive interview with ETV Bharat, Moily said that he always wanted to help the poor by getting them justice.

Bengaluru: Once a lawyer, former Karnataka Chief Minister and Union Minister Veerappa Moily is all set to don the black coat yet again, as he returns to the courtroom following his defeat in the recently concluded Lok Sabha Polls.

Speaking exclusively to ETV Bharat, Moily said he always loved the practising law and is happy that he will be getting to work in the courtroom again.

"There is still a lot of time. I will involve myself in literature and the practice of law. At the same time, I will also do social work and will work towards the betterment of the Congress party," he said.

"I have always loved law. From my childhood itself, I wanted to work for the poor and get them justice. Cases, where I succeeded in getting justice for the poor, have been the most memorable," he added.

Moily, who was the two-time sitting MP from Chikballapur in the run-up to the Lok Sabha polls said that the people still loved him and the loss was not a big setback.

"People of Chikballapur still love me. They have voted for me twice in the past. Maybe this time around, the JDS-Congress coalition did not work, and Narendra Modi used his tactics well to woo the voters," he said.

However, the senior Congress leader said that the alliance with JDS cannot be blamed for the loss.

He also praised ETV Bharat for the good work it has been doing and wished the media organisation the best for the future.
