Amaravati: The National Women's Commission responded to allegations and videotapes of police attacking women farmers in the dharnas and rallies in Amaravati. It will soon visit the region to know the condition of the women farmers who are protesting against the ‘three capitals’ in the state.
The simmering issue of the proposed shifting of the capital out of Amaravati to Visakhapatnam has evoked strong reactions from various quarters.
Responding to the situation, chairperson of the National Commission for Women (NCW) Rekha Sharma tweeted, "The Commission had taken suo motu cognizance of the alleged reports of women brutally beaten and throttled by the Andhra Pradesh police during their protest."
National women commission decided to visit Thullur along with other 29 villages that come under the Amaravati region, teaming up with three members to know the real scenario of Amaravati women farmers.
