Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change launched a theme song #HawaAaneDe for World Environment Day 2019 on Wednesday.

While addressing the media on the launch of the theme song for World Environment Day 2019, Ministry of Environment Secretary, CK Mishra said, "There cannot be any annual targets for Environment issues, that is why we take periodic targets. Under the National Clean Air Programme (NCAP), the Ministry is making plans for cities rather than states because it requires specific solutions to reduce the level of air pollution."

"It is true that our plan hasn't been successful yet. PM10, as well as PM2.5 levels, are still high. There is vehicular pollution. Public transport did not get enough push which was needed. But these are not inter-governmental obstacles. These are implementation issues," he added.

To combat air pollution, MoEF launched NCAP, a mid-term 5-year plan with targets of 20-30 per cent reduction in the concentrations of PM2.5 and PM10 in 102 cities.
