Kashiana Foundation initiates voter awareness campaign in Varanasi

The Kashiana Foundation initiated a voter awareness campaign in Varanasi in which visually impaired students participated and appealed everyone to vote on May 19. The campaign was started as only 12% of the population cast their vote in BHU.

Varanasi: The Kashiana Foundation initiated a voter awareness campaign in which visually impaired students participated in Banaras Hindu University near Shri Vishwanath Mandir on Sunday.

Students with signatures and placards in their hands, appealed everyone to vote in the general elections.

More than 200 people signed in support and swore to vote on May 19.

Sumit Singh, founder of the Kashiana Foundation said that it was a great honor to be a part of such drive.

The campaign was started because last time only 12% of the population cast their vote in BHU.

Satya Prakash Malaviya, a student told that they are also spreading their message by performing street drama.

He added that democracy should be celebrated just like festivals and more people should turn out to vote in India.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is contesting for Lok Sabha polls from Varanasi and the students have already met him.
