Gangtok: The Indian Army carried out rescue operations along the Indo-China border in Sikkim's Lachung to rescue over 500 people stuck in the Gurudongmar following heavy rainfall. According to reports, the tourists have been stuck in the valley for five days owing to heavy landslides.

Reports suggest that the tourists were returning home after a trip to Gurudongmar and were stuck on the way to Gangtok.

While the people survived on the food provided by locals for four days, on the fifth day the Army launched a mammoth operation to rescue individuals stuck due to massive landslides.

With the people being taken to a safe place, the tourists thanked the Indian Army for the life-saving initiative.
