New Delhi: The Union Home Ministry (MHA) has decided on Tuesday to transport security personnel of all central paramilitary forces by air in Jammu & Kashmir and Northeastern states for next one year.

The development took place following intelligence reports that anti-India elements might carry Pulwama type of similar attack on the security personnel.

After the Pulwama attack where 40 personnel from CRPF have died, air service has been provided to all CRPF personnel to transport from one place to another.

"Now Government has decided personnel of all central paramilitary forces as well as NDRF people by air," a senior Government official said.

Terming it as a major development, strategic affairs expert Subimal Bhattacharjee, however, said that Government should bring armoured personnel carrier for this purpose.

"There are many places in both these regions, where air service is 300 km away...this could be a temporary solution but bringing armoured personnel carrier and armoured vehicles are must," said Bhattacharya.
