Autorickshaw fares becomes Rs 9.5 per km in Delhi

The autorickshaw fares in the national capital saw a hike by 18.75 per cent on existing rates. The autorickshaw drivers will be able to charge the revised rates after necessary re-calibration of fare meters. The move will impact owners and drivers of over 90,000 autorickshaws plying in the city.

New Delhi: The transport department of New Delhi on Wednesday notified that the autorickshaw fares will be increased from Rs 8 to Rs 9.5 per kilometre. The new meter down charge will be Rs 25 for the first 1.5 kilometres, instead of the existing 2 kilometres.

The AAP government approved the hike in the fares on March 8 this year.

Apart from this, the government has also increased the waiting charge. Earlier Rs 30 was charged for 30 minutes. Now, 75 paisa per minute is to be paid as waiting charge. However, night tariffs and luggage charges will remain the same as before.

The increase in fares has been made after 6 years. The move will impact owners and drivers of over 90,000 autorickshaws plying in the city.
