Dewas: At least 15 monkeys died due to extreme heat in last 5-6 days in Punjapura Joshi Baba Forest in Dewas of Madhya Pradesh.
15 monkeys die due to heatstroke in MP, confirms DFO
As many as 15 monkeys were killed in past few days due to heatstroke in Punjapura Joshi Baba Forest of Madhya Pradesh, a forest officer informed.
PN Mishra, DFO Dewas, said, "Our team found 9 carcasses of monkeys in Dewas forest area. On June 07, we investigated further and found 6 more carcasses of monkeys. Doctors said that the monkeys died due to multi-organ failure after heatstroke."
He added, "The doctor informed us that the monkeys died due to scorching heat in the area. Another reason could be the battle of water among the monkeys in the forest".
