Sopore:Jammu and Kashmir police and security forces on Saturday arrested five Lashkar-e-Taiba aides in Sopore.
A joint team of Sopore police and security forces arrested five LeT associates in Sopore town of Baramulla district of north Kashmir and recovered weapons from their possession. According to police sources, the five aides were seen playing a key role in strengthening the militant group in Sopore.
Acting on specific intelligence inputs, Sopore police launched a search operation and arrested five Lashkar-e-Taiba aides with incriminating materials.
The accused have been identified as Khursheed Ahmad Lone, Bashir Ahmad Zargar, Javid Ahmad Pandith, Waseem Ahmad Lone and Arif Ahmad Khanday. While Kursheed and Bashir are residents of Baramullah, the remaining three are natives of Sopore. The police said that LeT members were in contact with active militants who provided logistics and other assistance like transportation to the accused.
Sopore police has registered a case against them and further investigation is underway.
