The Government of India (GOI) warns Pakistan to return Commander Abhinandan Varthaman unharmed, without any conditional negotiations or face consequences.
Speaking exclusively to ETV Bharat, a government source said, "If Pakistan is under the impression that there can be some negotiations regarding freeing Commander Abhinandan, it is absolutely wrong. Pakistan's foreign minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi said that they are ready for telephonic conversation with the Indian counterparts but India has made it very clear that any dialogue will take place only when our commander is returned unharmed. If they dare put him through anything wrong like they did with our wing commander Ahuja in 1999, they should be prepared to face dire consequences."
Wing commander Ahuja was shot dead by Pakistan while he was in custody as a prisoner of war (POW).
The source added, "Our stand is clear that a dialogue is possible only if Pakistan creates a peaceful environment and agrees to our terms on combating terrorism."
