Former driver's murder case: YSR Congress legislator sent to Rajahmundry Central Jail

Ruling YSR Congress MLC Ananta Satya Uday Bhaskar was arrested in Andhra Pradesh's Kakinada district on Monday for allegedly murdering his former driver four days ago, a senior police officer said. The court remanded the MLC to 14 days judicial custody. He was then shifted to Rajahmundry Central Jail.

Kakinada (Andhra Pradesh): Ruling YSR Congress MLC Ananta Satya Uday Bhaskar was arrested in Andhra Pradesh's Kakinada district on Monday for allegedly murdering his former driver four days ago, a senior police officer said. The MLC was produced before a local magistrate. The court then remanded him to 14 days of judicial custody. He was then shifted to Rajahmundry Central Jail at around 1.15 am (on Tuesday).

At a press conference late in the night, Kakinada district Superintendent of Police M Ravindranath Babu said, "Based on his confessional statement, technical data, and other evidence collected, we arrested the legislator for his involvement in the murder. He was also charged with a screening of evidence, as he sought to portray the murder as an accident."

The main accused in the murder case, MLC Ananta Satya Uday Bhaskar, after his arrest was produced before a local magistrate. Before his production at the local court, the MLC underwent a mandatory medical examination. A six-member police team had been formed to arrest the MLC, the SP added.

The SP further claimed that the murder of legislator's driver V Subrahmanyam was solved. "The MLC confessed to the police that he killed his former driver. The legislator was arrested by the police team late on Monday night and after the medical examination at the Government General Hospital (GCG), was produced before the local magistrate's court. The court then remanded him to 14 days of judicial custody. He was then shifted to Rajahmundry Central Jail at around 1.15 am (on Tuesday)," the SP added.
