Youth Congress pays tribute to deceased farmers

Amid the ongoing agitation by the farmers against the three Central farm laws, the Youth Congress paid nationwide tribute to the farmers who had lost their lives during the protests under the programme ‘Ek Diya Shaheedo Ke Naam’ on Friday.

New Delhi: The Indian Youth Congress paid nationwide homage to the farmers who laid their lives during their protests at Delhi borders against the three agricultural laws, under its initiative 'Ek Diya Shaheedo Ke Naam'

As a part of their programme, the Youth Congress members light up a diya for 6 minutes at 6 pm on Friday to pay tribute to the martyred farmers in each state and district of the country.

National President of Indian Youth Congress Srinivas BV told media, "The Annadata of our country is making a historic movement against black agricultural laws to preserve its existence in which dozens of farmers have been martyred. India will remember the contribution of these farmers fighting for the survival of democracy."

He further added, "Modi government is adopting a dictatorial attitude which is shameful. The government and BJP-RSS should understand that if there is no farmer in the country then there is no India, it would be meaningless to imagine the country. The youth of this country is with the farmers, they will fight for the rights of the farmers firmly."

The national media In-charge Rahul Rao of IYC said, "By paying homage to the martyred farmers across the country, the youth has given a clear message that they are with the farmers. Modi government is working for the capitalists and is insulting the mandate by ignoring the demands of the farmers."

On Friday, the eighth round of negotiations between the protesting farmer unions and the Centre ended on an inconclusive note, as the farmers are still stuck to their demand of repeal of the three farm laws, while the Centre insisting to limit the talks to contentious clauses. The next meeting has been scheduled for January 15.
