Is the Red Fort violence end of farmers protest

Things went berserk on the morning of January 26. Satnam Singh Pannu, leader of Kisan Mazdoor Ekta Sangharsh Committee, Amritsar in Punjab, led a group of farmers on tractors to march towards Delhi by breaking barricades. In no time, the entire protest turned out to be violent and leading to skirmishes with the police.

New Delhi: For the past two months, as many as 30 farmer unions had been protesting against three agriculture laws of the Central government, braving shivering cold at Delhi’s Singhu border, Tikri border and Gazipur border. Their protest was quite peaceful and was participating in talks with the Central government as well.

However, on January 26, the farmers took out the tractor parade after the Republic Day parade was over on the Rajpath. The rally was to be brought out under the supervision of Joint Farmer Morcha as per the fixed route, timing and length. However, things went berserk when on the morning of January 26 Satnam Singh Pannu, leader of Kisan Mazdoor Ekta Sangharsh Committee, Amritsar in Punjab, led a group of farmers on tractors to march towards Delhi by breaking barricades. In no time, the entire protest turned out to be violent and leading to skirmishes with the police forces. Meanwhile, some miscreants hoisted religious flags atop the Red Fort after which the politics over farmer agitation has intensified across the country.

HOME MINISTRY STRICT ON VIOLENT INCIDENT

Many policemen were injured in the violent incident at the Red Fort, while the condition of many is said to be critical. After a high-level meeting chaired by the Principal Secretary, Union Ministry of Home Affairs, the instructions were issued to identify the protesters through CCTV cameras and take action against them. So far, more than 200 people have been detained and are being questioned. Many people including Lakha Sidhana have been booked and soon more arrests of people involved in the Red Fort violent incident can be done.

KHALISTANI IS MALIGNING THE FARMER MOVEMENT: BITTU

After the violent incident took place at the Red Fort, Congress MP from Ludhiana Ravneet Singh Bittu said that Deep Sidhu acted at the behest of Gurpatwant Singh Pannu, who runs Sikh for Justice in the US and conspired to thwart the farmer’s agitation for which Sikhs for Justice had kept a reward of crores of rupees.

I HAVE NOTHING TO DO WITH DEEP SIDHU: SUNNY DEOL

Gurdaspur MP and actor Sunny Deol tweeted yesterday after the violent clash at the Red Fort, saying that he was deeply depressed and that he and his family members have nothing to do with Deep Sidhu. It is worth mentioning that Deep Sidhu on his social media account has shared pictures with Sunny Deol, Home Minister Amit Shah and Prime Minister Narendra Modi. These pictures have gone viral. While contesting the Lok Sabha election from Gurdaspur, Sunny Deol’s election was managed by Deep Sidhu. At one point of time, MP and actor Sunny Deol had said that Deep Sidhu was like his younger brother!

KISAN MAZDOOR EKTA SANGHARSH COMMITTEE OF AMRITSAR DISSOCIATES ITSELF

Leader of the Kisan Mazdoor Sangharsh Samiti, Swarn Singh Pandher, while addressing a press conference, said that his organization has nothing to do with the violence at the Red Fort and targeted Deep Siddha and gangster Lakha Sidhana. He termed the incident at the Red Fort as shameful. Here it is worth noting that Lakha Sidhana, who has more than two dozen criminal cases registered against him in Punjab, was seen in the convoy.

INDIAN FARMERS UNION RAJEWAL TARGETS DELHI POLICE, BJP, DEEP SIDHU

Talking to ETV Bharat, Onkar Singh, a close aide of Balbir Singh Rajewal, president of the Bharatiya Kisan Union - Rajewal, said that under the conspiracy, the Delhi Police allowed the leaders of Kisan Mazdoor Sangharsh Samiti Amritsar organization to come to Delhi, while other organizations are sitting on the border. He said that his organization has already disclosed while working closely with the government agencies that Deep Sidhu and Lakha Sidhana have good relations with the BJP leaders. Despite the permission for the farmer’s tractor parade, many from Delhi Police misled the farmers at many places. He, however, said that the United Farmer’s Front will soon hold a press conference to expose those who thwarted the farmer’s movement. The peasant movement will continue in a peaceful manner.

FARMER ORGANIZATIONS MUST BE AWARE OF MISCHIEVOUS ELEMENTS: AMAN ARORA

Reacting to the violent incident at the Red Fort, Aman Arora, AAP MLA from Sunam assembly constituency in Punjab, said that the leaders of the farmers’ organization need to stay away from the mischievous elements. At the same time, the Aam Aadmi Party MLA appealed to Prime Minister Narendra Modi led government at the Centre to repeal new agricultural laws as soon as possible.

REACTION OF SENIOR JOURNALIST BALWANT TAKSHAK ON FARMER MOVEMENT

After the violent clash in Delhi, an alert was issued by the Central government. The Chief Ministers of Punjab and Haryana has also directed to issue a high alert. Internet service was stopped in some districts of Haryana to ensure that rumours do not spread. Giving information, Balwant Takshak, who has covered several agitations in Haryana, said that when the Delhi Police allowed farmers to parade tractors, there was no need for putting up barricades. He also questioned how Deep Sidhu reached the Red Fort? This is a big question and it was a matter of investigation. At whose behest the mischievous elements indulged in violence also need to be investigated. When asked if farmer’s movement could take the form of the Jat movement in Haryana, sharing this experience, senior journalist Takshak said that it will not happen because till the JJP does not break its ties with the BJP, nothing can happen to the BJP government in Haryana. The JJP has come to power after a long time.
