Why is Kashmiri language not included in Google Translate?

Kashmiri is not included in Google Translate even though it is as old as English.

Srinagar (J&K): Though there are over 130 languages that Google can translate, Kashmiri, a 5000-year-old language, is still not among them. It is one of the important languages in the Indian subcontinent. Though it is as old as English, Kashmiri has not flourished the way it should have.

Dr Jawhar Qudusi, whose personal efforts led to the development of the first Kashmiri language publishing software, said the government entrusted the institutions to work for the development and promotion of the Kashmiri language and literature in accordance with modern requirements after they got acquainted with the software.

These institutions, however, did nothing in this regard. As a result, the language lags far behind in the field of technology and it is also one of the reasons why the Kashmiri language has not yet been included in Google Translate yet. Experts suggested an appropriate technological tool for translation of Kashmiri for the development and promotion of the language so it can be made available to the world.
