Kolkata: A woman who tested positive for COVID-19 died after she was allaegedly denied timely medical help. To make things worse, her body remained at her residence for at least 15 hours as no one from the administration or the police reached out to her family members.
On Wednesday, the woman took a Rapid Antigen Test after she developed COVID-19 symptoms. The next morning, she suffered from acute breathlessness. However, as her test report was not ready by then to prove she was infected with COVID-19, none of the hospitals admitted her.

Meanwhile, her condition further deteriorated. By the time her family members could privately arrange an oxygen cylinder, she had passed away. Her test report, which came later, proved she was COVID-19 positive.
The miseries of her family members continued even after her death as they had to keep the body at home for at least 15 hours. Despite informing the authorities concerned, no one turned up. Even the neighbours refrained from offering help to the family as they feared they, too, would contract the virus.
This is one among the several such ordeals COVID-19 patients and their families are going through.
