Lucknow:Former Uttar Pradesh Shia Waqf Board chairman Waseem Rizvi on Saturday claimed that he has created a 'new Quran' by removing 26 verses that are allegedly violating the law of the land and promote extremism.
Rizvi also said that he has sent a model of the 'new Quran' to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for reference.
In a letter addressing PM Modi, he urged to authorise the use of his ‘new Quran’ in all madrasas and Muslim institutes across the country.

This comes after the Supreme Court on April 12 termed the removal of 26 verses from the Holy Quran as "absolutely frivolous". The apex court has also imposed Rs 50,000 as costs on Rizvi for filing the petition.
After his petition was dismissed by the top court, Rizvi claimed to have created the modified Quran himself.
In an exclusive interaction with ETV Bharat, Rizvi asserted that his 'new Quran' is the correct Quran and he will also launch it in the market soon.
