New Delhi:The Centre has allocated a total of 12 crore doses of indigenously manufactured Covaxin and Covishield to all states and union territories for July with Uttar Pradesh, Maharastra and Bihar getting the maximum number of doses. As many as 10 crore Covishield doses have been allocated to states and UTs against a number of 2 crore Covaxin doses. Government statistics available with ETV Bharat stated that Uttar Pradesh has been provided with 1,91,16,660 doses of both vaccines. The state has a targeted population of 15,04,98,822 who need to be inoculated with the Covid-19 jabs.
The state has been provided with 1,58,64,000 Covishield doses and 32,52,660 Covaxin doses. Maharastra is the second state in the list provided with the maximum number of Covid-19 doses. The state has been provided with 95,64,190 doses of Covishield whereas 19,60,990 Covaxin doses have been provided. Maharastra has a targeted population of 9,07,32,824 who need to be inoculated with Covid-19 jabs.

Similarly, Bihar has been provided with 91,81,930 doses of Covid-19 vaccines that include 76,19,640 doses of Covishield and 15,62,290 doses of Covaxin. Bihar has a targeted population of 7,22,85,445 who need to be inoculated with the Covid-19 jabs. Significantly, Delhi was given 20,26,110 doses of both vaccines for July. The national capital has a targeted population of 1,59,50,750 for the 18 plus age group who need to be vaccinated with Covid-19 jabs.
Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has earlier said that it needs 83 lakh doses every month to complete the vaccination at the earliest. A senior official in the Health Ministry said that apart from providing two domestic vaccines, States and the private sector can also procure SputnikV vaccine depending on its availability. And with the recent approval given by the Drug Controller General of India (DCGI) to Moderna, it is expected that there will be more availability of the vaccines in the coming days.

India also aims to administer 1 crore doses per day from mid-July. In an assessment made by the Health Ministry, it is estimated that on average 3.95 million doses were administered daily in India in June. Talking to ETV Bharat, Dr Tamorish Kole, President of the Asian Society for Emergency Medicine, said that under the present situation, a total of 1,065.54 million doses can be administered by December 31 this year.
"To fully inoculate all adults by December this year, 8.24 million doses need to be given daily on average in the country," Dr Kole said. The Central government has earlier said that by December this year all adults will be inoculated with the Covid-19 jabs. A few other Covid-19 vaccines like Biological E, Pfizer, Zydus Cadila's ZyCOV-D are also in the pipeline for its availability in India in the coming days.
