UP woman's baby named after acronym of Teachers' Eligibility Test

An aspiring teacher from Uttar Pradesh and her husband decided to name their child after the Uttar Pradesh Teachers' Eligibility Test. The reason is simple: She got labour pain during the exam and was immediately rushed to a hospital where she gave birth to a newborn. The baby is named TET, an acronym of Teachers' Eligibility Test.

Amroha: While families spend months and weeks to find a name for a baby, here's a couple who named their newborn after an eligibility test. Here's the hilarious story behind the unusual name 'TET', the UP couple had chosen for their first child.

Accompanied by husband, Renu Devi, a resident of Nanpur Bita village in Sambhal district, had gone to Amroha to appear for the Uttar Pradesh Teachers' Eligibility Test (UP TET) exam recently.

The aspiring teacher was taking the exam at Ramabai Ambedkar Degree College at Gajraula when she got labour pain. The invigilator was informed and an ambulance was arranged to take her to a nearby Community Health Centre, where she gave birth to a baby soon after.

Interestingly, the baby was named TET, the acronym of Teachers' Eligibility Test - TET.

Both the mother and child are doing well and stable, according to Dr Yogendra Singh, medical officer of the CHC at Gajraula. In a video, Dr Yogendra Singh was seen expressing his surprise in the baby's name 'TET'.

Babies with rare but weird names are very common. But this would be the first case in which a baby has got a name after an examination title. Only time can tell whether the parents and the baby would keep this name for ever!
