Thiruvananthapuram: Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandavya will arrive in Kerala today to assess the preventive measures against the spread of Covid. More than half of the Covid cases reported in the country are in Kerala. It is in this context that the Centre is paying special attention to Kerala.
The Union Minister will arrive in Thiruvananthapuram in the afternoon and will hold discussions with Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan. Health Minister Veena George will also attend the discussion. The health department is also holding meetings with top officials. The Union Health Minister will visit HLL and Thiruvananthapuram Medical College.
A six-member expert committee appointed by the Ministry of Health has also arrived in Kerala to assess the situation in the state. The central team is examining in detail, the recurrences of the virus in vaccinated people. Such a test is based on the suspicion that the virus has been modified. The central team had directed the state to separately calculate the incidence of the disease in those who have been vaccinated.
