New Delhi: Yudhvir Singh, general secretary of Bharatiya Kisan Union (BKU), on Monday, said that the Union Agriculture Minister has ridiculed the farmers by terming the Kisan Sansad 'useless'. In an exclusive interaction with ETV Bharat, the farmer leader said that the ministers should not forget that they are only the elected representatives of the citizens who are sent to the Parliament. "The citizens of our country have the strength to change the government," he said.

Taking a dig at Narendra Singh Tomar, Singh said that the Agriculture Minister comes from a rural background but he has lost his balance after attaining the seat of power in Delhi. "He is terming anti-farm laws protest and Kisan Sansad as meaningless," he asserted. Earlier, Union Agriculture Minister Narendra Singh Tomar, during a media query, stated that there is only one Parliament in India whose session is currently underway whereas the Kisan Sansad is meaningless.

The BKU leader said that Tomar has been asking farmers to come for dialogue and leave the protest on the three farm laws aside which invited strong opposition and criticism from the farmer associations. Terming Kisan Sansad as the 'highest parliament of the country', Singh said that the BJP ministers give baseless statements to provoke tensions when the situation between government and farmers unions remain peaceful. He also said that farmers are annoyed with the Centre's since it is behaving in an autocratic manner.

"The Central government feels that their decisions are final and if anyone opposes them, then it turns malicious. BJP government is unable to digest the opposition for the three farm laws. The government should understand that it is not supreme, rather they just got a mandate to serve the nation for a certain period of time," Singh said.

Talking about the BJP's Tiranga Yatra on the occasion of Independence Day, he said that Samyukt Kisan Morcha is alert to avoid untoward incidents like that of January 26. The statement comes in the wake of the recent clashes between agitating farmers and BJP workers in parts of Haryana and Punjab.

"We will not let them to defame our movement. We will be more careful this time. Farmer leaders are constantly communicating with their supporters. They are appealing to them not to interfere with BJP's Tiranga Yatra. We have asked them to avoid all the possible confrontation-like situations. However, the rest of the programs announced by SKM will continue as normal," he stated. Slamming the BJP, Yudhvir Singh said only because of the farmers, BJP came up with the idea of organising a Tiranga Yatra.

Notably, BJP has started a Tiranga Yatra in Haryana which will involve all the party leaders, workers and ministers. Kisan Sansad resumed proceedings on Monday where farmers discussed the Electricity Amendment Bill.
