Kollam: Negligence of three government hospitals caused death of unborn child, according to the family of a woman, who lost her child in the eight month of pregnancy here in Kerala.
Meera, a native of Kulamada, Parippally, in Kerala was eight months pregnant when she was admitted to Paravur, Nedungolam Rama Rao Memorial Taluk Hospital on August 11 due to severe abdominal pain.
The hospital authorities had sent back the woman from Kollam district, who was admitted to the hospital due to severe abdominal pain saying that there was no problem.
However, she was referred to Government Victoria Women's Hospital and later to SAT Hospital, Thiruvananthapuram.
Meera's relatives allege that she was not even examined in hospitals for various reasons. Finally, on 15 September, she was admitted to Medical College Hospital Thiruvananthapuram.
Unborn child died due to the negligence of three government hospitals in Kerala Later, when the scan was done, it was found that the baby was not moving. The woman gave birth soon after and the child was found dead. However, the hospitals could not confirm the death of the baby.
The Kollam District Medical Officer has started an investigation into the incident. The District Medical Officer said action would be taken if there was negligence on the part of the hospitals.
