Ghaziabad: Police on Sunday arrested two persons, including a woman, for allegedly murdering two women and injuring three children.
The accused, identified as Sonu and Uma, attacked women and children with sharp objects like a screwdriver and knief and also looted the house.
The police said that the female suspect is a distant relative of the deceased and she along with Sonu hatched a conspiracy to rob the victims.
The accused were caught after a brief exchange of fire with the police. Sonu has been admitted to the hospital and is undergoing treatment, police said.
Cops said that Uma has confessed to her crime and police also recovered looted items and pistol from their possession.
According to reports, family members of the victim were not present in the house when the incident happened.
Two women killed, three children injured in Ghaziabad house The two deceased were identified as Dolly Thakur, 32, and Anshu Kumari, 16, who was a tutor of the former’s children.
"Of the two women who died, one was a tuition teacher who used to visit the house to teach the children, and the other lived there. The three injured children have been sent to the hospital for treatment and we are taking their statements. A knife or blunt object is suspected to be the weapon," Kalanidhi Naithani, Senior Superintendent of Police said.
Praveen Kumar, Inspector General (IG), Meerut Range, said that a knife and a stone have been recovered from the crime scene.
