Raipur: Two police constables allegedly committed suicide in different districts of Chhattisgarh's insurgency-hit Bastar division on Sunday.
In the first incident, police constable Vinod Porte (32) allegedly shot himself with an SLR rifle in Pamed police station of Bijapur district. At the time of the incident, Porte was on security duty at the police station, located in a Naxal- stronghold around 450 km from Raipur.
According to reports, the constable was battling mental stress and was a native of Korba district.
Bijapur SP Kamlochan Kashyap told ETV Bharat, "Police constable, identified as Vinod Porte shot himself on Saturday afternoon at around 12 pm. His body has been sent for post-mortem and will be sent to his native village after the autopsy is completed."

In another incident, constable Dinesh Verma allegedly shot himself with his service rifle around 8.50 am on Sunday. Verma belonged to the 4th battalion of the Chhattisgarh Armed Forces (CAF) and he reportedly shot himself at his unit camp in Pushpal police station in Sukma district.
