Agartala: Well-known spiritual leader Pagli Mashi has died at an ashram in the northeastern state of Tripura, reports said. As news spread, thousands of devotees gathered at the ashram in Melagarh in Sepahijala district. According to reports she was declared dead by doctors around 3 pm Wednesday.

Sources said she could be over hundred years old and was suffering from ailments. Her last rites would be performed on Thursday after completing rituals. Pagli Mashi had lakhs of followers in India and Bangladesh. Sources in her ashram, said, "in the last three days she was not well. Apparently, there was a wound in her face". Tripura Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb wrote a condolence note on social media.
