Tripura to compensate for delayed MGNREGA wages

The Tripura government on Wednesday took strong exception to reports of delayed wage payments for MGNREGA work and approved a decision to pay wages on a weekly basis.

Agartala:The Tripura government on Wednesday took strong exception to reports of delayed wage payments for MGNREGA work and approved a decision to pay wages on a weekly basis.

According to a detailed social media post of Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb, “If the wages are not paid within 15 days, the workers will be paid interest at the rate of 0.05 percent daily on the total wages from the 16th day as compensation." He also said that in order to make the system transparent, the whole process ranging from assessment of work to payment of wages will be computerized.

Giving details, the post said, the state government has decided to computerize the process. The compensation that will be given to the beneficiaries will be also calculated on the computerized system. Apart from that, in a separate post, the Chief Minister informed that special measures were being taken to tackle the illegal hoarding at markets.
