1. Rule of land supreme, not your policy: Parliamentary panel on information technology to Twitter

Amid a tussle between the Union government and Twitter over the new IT rules, members of a parliamentary panel on Friday strongly objected to Twitter India officials' observations that they abide by their policy and categorically told them that the rule of land is supreme.

2. India amends Cable TV network rules

The Indian government on Thursday announced changes to the Cable Television Network Rules. The changes are an update to regulations made in 1994, the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting said.

3. Going through a mental trauma, YouTuber Gaurav reacts on 'Baba ka Dhaba' owner suicide attempt

While speaking to ETV Bharat over 'Baba ka Dhaba' '(बाबा का ढाबा) owner, Kanta Prasad's alleged suicide case, YouTuber Gaurav Wasan said he was well and good when he met him the last time adding he repeatedly regretted what he did last year.

As many as 55 patients of black fungus who were undergoing treatment at the Civil Hospital in Ujjain allegedly developed a reaction after hospital staff administered Amphotericin B Lipid complex to them on Thursday.

Kanta Prasad, the owner of 'Baba Ka Dhaba'(बाबा का ढाबा) eatery in Delhi, who had shot to fame last year after a YouTuber highlighted octogenarian's grim financial condition, attempted suicide and was admitted to Safdarjung Hospital last night.

A special court in Delhi has dismissed the bail petitions of Christian Michel, a British citizen and an alleged middleman in the Augusta Westland VVIP helicopters scam. The court has dismissed the bail petitions filed in both the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) and the Enforcement Directorate.

1. Calcutta High Court adjouns Mamata's plea challenging Nandigram Assembly poll result

The Calcutta High Court on Friday adjourned hearing to June 24 in West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee's petition challenging the election of Leader Of Opposition Suvendu Adhikari from Nandigram. The matter was mentioned by Banerjee's lawyer before the court of Justice Kaushik Chanda as per the list for hearing.

2. Allahabad High Court denies protection to live-in couple

The Allahabad High Court has dismissed the protection plea of a live-in couple, noting that the woman was already married and in a live-in relationship with another man.  

3. Minor kids live with father's corpse, go to neighbour for food

In a shocking incident, two minor children, aged 8 and 6 years, stayed in their house with their father's body for two days simply because they could not understand what had happened to him. On the third day, the children -- a boy and a girl -- went to a neighbour's house asking for food and said that they were hungry and their father "was not talking to them".

4. Aligarh: Neighbours deny 'starving family' narrative, say they offered help

After a report surfaced on Wednesday from Uttar Pradesh's Aligarh district that a woman along with her five children was battling intense hunger for over two months, her neighbours said that they tried to extend help to the family but the woman never opened the door of her house fearing Covid-19.

1.India records 62K fresh Covid cases, 1,587 deaths in 24 hrs

With 62,480 new coronavirus infections being reported in a day, India's total tally of COVID-19 cases rose to 2,97,62,793, while the death toll climbed to 3,83,490 with 1,587 fresh fatalities, the lowest in 61 days, according to the Union Health Ministry data updated on Friday.

2. Ghaziabad assault case: Police slap legal notice on Twitter India chief

Ghaziabad Police sent a legal notice to the Managing Director (MD) of Twitter India Manish Maheshwari over a viral video showing an elderly man in Loni being assaulted. The notice has been issued under Section 160 of CrPC.  

3.Pak drone enters Indian territory; returns after BSF opens fire

A Pakistani drone spotted hovering over Dera Baba Nanak town in Punjab's Gurdaspur district, returned to Pakistan as soon as the Border Security Force (BSF) personnel opened fire at it. At around 4.40 am, the 10th battalion of BSF personnel deployed at the Punjab Border heard the Pakistani drone and fired seven rounds of bullets at it.

4. BJP national leader concludes two-day visit to Tripura; cabinet expansion likely

Putting an end to the high voltage political drama that Tripura witnessed in the last 48 hours, BJP National General Secretary BL Santosh left for New Delhi on Thursday after completing his two-day visit to the state. The visit is widely perceived to be an attempt to quell the rumble of dissidence within Tripura BJP.

Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren, who is stationed in the national capital reportedly to meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the high command of the Congress party, on Thursday denied reports of a possible expansion of the state cabinet.

2. Centre sets target to reduce 50 pc road accident deaths by 2024

Minister for Road Transport and Highways and Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises, Nitin Gadkari on Thursday said that the Centre's target is to reduce road accident deaths by 50 per cent by the year 2024.  

3. Delhi northeast violence: Student activists released from Tihar on bail

Two days after being granted bail, Pinjra Tod activists Natasha Narwal, Devangna Kalita and Jamia student Asif Iqbal Tanha, accused in Northeast Delhi violence, walked out of Tihar prison in Delhi on Thursday, following a court's order asking for their immediate release.

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has filed an election petition before the Calcutta High Court praying for declaring the election of Suvendu Adhikari from Nandigram as null and void, and the matter has been listed for hearing on Friday.

The White House on Thursday gave ample hints of potential direct talks between US President Joe Biden and Chinese leader Xi Jinping as Washington's relationship with Beijing continues to deteriorate.
