1. Karnataka cabinet expansion: 29 ministers to take oath today; BSY's son not in list

The Karnataka High Court has issued an emergency notice to all the defendants, including former Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa and his son Vijayendra in connection with the criminal complaint filed against them over corruption allegations.

2. Rs 10 Lakhs ex-gratia and magisterial inquiry will be ordered: Delhi CM to minor girl's parents

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Wednesday met the family of the minor girl who was allegedly raped, murdered and cremated without her parents' consent in Delhi's Old Nangal crematorium.

Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra on Wednesday attacked the Yogi Adityanath dispensation over the killing of an Ayurvedic doctor in Sitapur, saying the security system for the common people is in a poor state and the Uttar Pradesh government is not doing anything except indulging in false propaganda.

The Enforcement Directorate has arrested Avantha Group promoter Gautam Thapar in connection with a money laundering case, officials said on Wednesday.  

2.India believed to be building naval facility on Mauritian island: Report

India is believed to be building a naval facility on the remote Mauritian island of Agalega in the south-western Indian Ocean, a leading Arab media organisation claimed on Tuesday, citing satellite imagery, financial data and on-the-ground evidence collected by it.

3. Tokyo Olympics: Javelin thrower Neeraj Chopra qualifies for men's final in first attempt

Star javelin thrower Neeraj Chopra kept India's hopes of an elusive Olympic medal from track and field events alive by earning a direct qualification into the finals with a stunning throw of 86.65m that put him on the top of the Group A contest, here on Wednesday.

4. Pilot, co-pilot of crashed helicopter in Pathankot still missing

The pilot and the co-pilot of the Dhruv helicopter that crashed on Tuesday into the Ranjit Sagar Dam in Pathankot are still missing. Although there has been no official defence statement on this crash, sources had said on Tuesday that both the pilot and the co-pilot 'were safe'.

5. Air Marshal Suraj Kumar Jha takes over as Air Officer in Charge Personnel

Air Marshal Suraj Kumar Jha on August 1 took over as the Air Officer in Charge Personnel at Air headquarters. Commissioned in 1984, Jha has flown over 2,900 hours in different fighter aircraft. He was the Joint Secretary Air in the Department of Military Affairs, the Ministry of Defence informed in a press release.

1. Invite 'Covid warriors' to I-Day functions: Centre tells states

The Centre has asked all states to invite 'Covid warriors' like doctors, health care and sanitation workers as well as some people who have recovered from the disease for the Independence Day functions at the state, district, block and panchayat levels.  

2. Tokyo Olympics: Assembly proceedings to be adjourned for 20 minutes to watch Lovlina's match

Assam Assembly proceedings will be adjourned for 20 minutes on Wednesday to watch boxer Lovlina Borgohain's match who will take on Turkey's Busenaz Surmeneli in the semi-final bout at Tokyo Olympics.  

3. NIA files charge sheet against 7 Maoists in J'khand cops killing case

The National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Tuesday said that it has filed a supplementary charge sheet against seven members of the banned CPI-Maoist in connection with its probe into the 2019 killing of five policemen in Jharkhand's Saraikela Kharsawan district.  

4.Cuomo urged to resign after probe finds he harassed 11 women

New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo faced mounting pressure Tuesday to resign, including from President Joe Biden and other onetime Democratic allies, after an investigation found he sexually harassed nearly a dozen women and worked to retaliate against one of his accusers.  

5. Officer dead, suspect killed in violence outside Pentagon

A Pentagon police officer died after being stabbed Tuesday during a burst of violence at a transit center outside the building, and a suspect was shot by law enforcement and died at the scene, the Pentagon said Tuesday.
