1. PM Modi to visit vaccine making units in Ahmedabad, Hyderabad, Pune today
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday will embark on a three-city visit to personally review the vaccine development and manufacturing process. He will visit the Zydus Biotech Park in Ahmedabad, Bharat Biotech in Hyderabad and Serum Institute of India in Pune (Maharashtra), the Prime Minister's Office said.
2.Yogi Adityanath to address public meeting in Old Hyderabad today
Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath will visit Hyderabad on Saturday and take up the responsibility of campaigning for BJP for the upcoming Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) polls. Yogi Adityanath will lead the roadshow in Malkajgiri parliamentary constituency. Later, at Hyderabad's old city, which is known as a base of All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM), Adityanath will address a public meeting at Shah Ali Banda.
3.SC refuses to permit reservation for admission in Super Specialty Medical Courses
The Supreme Court on Friday refused to permit reservation to doctors for admission in Super Specialty Medical Courses for the academic year 2020-2021. The apex court in its interim order said the government order issued by the State of Tamil Nadu reserving 50 per cent seats for in-service doctors would be detrimental to the interests of the meritorious doctors as 50 per cent of the available seats in Tamil Nadu in Super Specialty Medical Courses will not be available to them.
4. Malegaon blasts: Bombay HC allows Sayyed Nisar to intervene in Prasad Purohit's plea
The Bombay High Court on Thursday allowed an application filed by 2008 Malegaon bomb blast victim Syyed Ahmed Nisar to intervene in the plea filed by accused Lieutenant Colonel Prasad Purohit challenging cognizance of charges against him. The High Court allowed Nisar Ahmed Sayyed to be made a respondent to Lt Col Prasad Purohit's plea to quash charges against him. Sayyed was the father of one of the six persons who died in the 2008 Malegaon blast.
5. Karnataka CM's political secretary N R Santosh attempts suicide
N R Santosh, the political secretary to chief minister BS Yediyurappa attempted suicide by consuming sleeping pills at his Dollars Colony residence in Bangalore on Friday. Santosh has been admitted to MS Ramaiah Hospital. According to the sources, Santosh was suffering from depression from the past few days. However, the hospital has not given any statement regarding the case.
6. Medical colleges in Himachal to re-open from December 1
Medical colleges in Himachal will reopen from December 1, nine months after remaining closed due to the pandemic. State Health Secretary Amitabh Awasthi informed that medical colleges and nursing colleges will open in the state from December 1 with 100 per cent staff. He further added that medical, nursing and paramedical students would have to prove that they were negative to coronavirus before attending the classes.
7. Education minister to interact with students, parents on board exams, entrance tests
Competitive and school board exams next year will only be conducted after due consultation with students, teachers and parents, Union Minister of Education Ramesh Pokhriyal 'Nishank' said on Friday. He said that conducting examinations is not less than a challenge amid the pandemic. There have been demands for postponement of board exams to May in view of the continued closure of schools and teaching-learning activities being completely online.
8. BJP nominates Sushil Kumar Modi for Rajya Sabha bypolls
Former Bihar deputy chief minister Sushil Kumar Modi has been rewarded with a nomination for the Upper House by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). Modi has got a Rajya Sabha berth because of a seat falling vacant owing to the demise of Union Minister Ram Vilas Paswan of the Lok Janshakti Party. BJP national general secretary Arun Singh said the party's Central Election Committee has finalised the name of Sushil Kumar Modi for the Rajya Sabha by-election in Bihar.
9. Snowfall blocks 2 highways, 227 roads in Himachal
A yellow alert was issued by the Meteorological Department in several districts of Himachal Pradesh where it snowed heavily in higher regions on Wednesday and Thursday, disrupting public life. Due to continuous snowfall in the higher regions, the vehicular movement stopped on two national highways and 227 roads in the state.
10. 'Mumkin': Youth livelihood programme launched in J-K
Jammu and Kashmir Lt Governor Manoj Sinha on Friday launched a youth livelihood programme 'Mumkin' by distributing subsidized small commercial vehicles among 10 young beneficiaries across the Union Territory. The Union Territory administration in partnership with Ashok Leyland has moved towards achieving the vision of the prime minister to provide sustainable livelihood to youth under the 'Mumkin' scheme for the transport sector, the LG said.
