1. PM Modi to attend centennial foundation day celebration of Lucknow varsity today

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will attend the Centennial Foundation Day celebration of the University of Lucknow and release a special commemorative postal stamp on the occasion via video conferencing on Wednesday. The Lucknow University was established in 1920 and is celebrating its centennial (100th) year. Modi will attend the celebration of Centennial Foundation Day of the University of Lucknow on November 25, 2020, at 5:30 pm via video conferencing, a statement from the Prime Minister's Office said.

2. Senior Congress leader Ahmed Patel passes away

Senior Congress leader Ahmed Patel, who was undergoing treatment at a Gurugram hospital after testing positive for the COVID-19, breathed his last after multi-organ failure in the wee hours of Wednesday, his son Faisal confirmed. He was 71. In a tweet, Faisal said that the Rajya Sabha MP from Gujarat died at 3.30 am on Wednesday.

3. CBI opposes Lalu Prasad's bail in Dumka treasury case

The CBI on Tuesday submitted its written opposition to RJD chief Lalu Prasad's bail plea in Jharkhand High Court in the fodder scam case related to Dumka treasury saying that he has not served a single day's sentence in connection with it. Lalu Prasad's lawyers claimed that he has completed half of his sentence in judicial custody in the case.

4. Home secy writes to par panel citing inability to appear before it

Home Secretary Ajay Bhalla has written to the chairman of Parliamentary Panel on Information Technology, Shashi Tharoor, citing a rule to express his inability to appear before the committee on the issue of suspension of Internet services, sources said on Tuesday. Bhalla was scheduled to appear before the committee on Wednesday on the issue of the 'Suspension of Telecom Services/Internet and its impact'.

5. Jaishankar on maiden Bahrain visit as External Affairs Minister, discusses historical ties, cooperation with counterpart

External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar began his two-day visit to Bahrain with a meeting with the country's Foreign Minister Dr Abdullatif bin Rashid Al Zayani on Tuesday when he discussed historical ties and cooperation in diverse sectors between the two countries. According to a statement from the Ministry of External Affairs, this would be Jaishankar's first visit to Bahrain as an External Affairs Minister.

6. Kerala to bring ordinance to withdraw police Act amendment: CM

Kerala Cabinet has decided to issue a fresh ordinance to withdraw the Section 118 A, added to the Kerala Police Act, under which offenders, convicted of bullying, insulting or disgracing individuals through any content, knowing it to be false, through any communication medium, were to be awarded a sentence of three years/penalty of Rs 10,000 or both.

7. Will set up an academy in J&K to train local youth: Suresh Raina

Jammu and Kashmir Sports Council today signed Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with cricketer Suresh Raina for training budding cricketers across the Union Territory. The MoU was signed in presence of LG, Manoj Sinha, CS BVR Subramaniam and Principal Secretary to LG Nitishwar Kumar. The spokesman said that Raina would be a dream mentor for young talents from J&K who are working hard to get into the big leagues and will be immensely benefitted by this collaboration.

8.Every Rohingya protected by Owaisi will be removed: Tejasvi Surya

Amid the heated-up Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) election campaign, BJP's Bengaluru South MP Tejasvi Surya on Tuesday stated that every single Rohingya refugee that AIMIM chief Assaduddin Owaisi "tries to protect will be thrown out".Surya lashed out at All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) chief Owaisi following his comment on BJP Telangana president Bandi Sanjay Kumar's statement of conducting "surgical strike in the old city of Hyderabad", earlier on Tuesday.

9. UP Cabinet clears proposal to rename Ayodhya airport as Maryada Purushottam Sri Ram Airport

Uttar Pradesh Cabinet, led by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, on Tuesday, cleared the proposal to rename the Ayodhya airport as Maryada Purushottam Sri Ram Airport. The proposal for the same will be sent to the Ministry of Civil Aviation after it is passed by the state Assembly, said an official release of Uttar Pradesh government.

10. Administration, agriculture scientists worried about resurgence of wheat blast

In order to prevent the spread of deadly wheat blast disease, the Union government, in 2017, imposed a blanket ban on the production of wheat in large areas along the international border with Bangladesh in Murshidabad and Nadia districts of West Bengal. It was decided that wheat could not be cultivated within a radius of 5 kilometres from the border for three years in these two districts.
