1. Modi greets people of Nagaland on foundation day

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday extended his wishes to the people of Nagaland on its statehood day. "Greetings to my sisters and brothers of Nagaland on their Statehood Day. The people of Nagaland are known for their courage and kindness. Their culture is exemplary and so is their contribution to India's progress. Praying for Nagaland's continuous development," he tweeted.

2. Shed arrogance, give justice to farmers: Rahul to govt

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Tuesday asked the government to wake up and shed "arrogance" to provide protesting farmers with their rights. Farmers, mostly from Punjab and Haryana, are holding protests at the Singhu, Tikri and Ghazipur borders of the national capital against the Centre's new agri-marketing laws.

3. Kerala CM urges Centre to listen to protesting farmers

Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan on Tuesday urged the central government to "listen" to the farmers, who are on agitation at Delhi border points against the new agriculture laws and resolve the issue in an amicable manner. In a tweet, Vijayan described the farmers as the "lifeblood" of the country and said it time to stand with them.

4. China not to apologise for Australia 'war crime' tweet

China has refused to apologise for a controversial doctored image depicting an Australian soldier cutting the throat of an Afghan child and said Canberra should be ashamed rather demanding an apology. The Chinese foreign ministry reaction comes after Australian Prime Minister Scott Morrison slammed the Chinese government for the 'outrageous and disgusting slur' and sought an apology.

5.Protesting farmers' demands not limited to farm laws

The farmers protesting along the borders of the national capital are not just demanding the withdrawal of the new agricultural laws implemented by the Central government but also relaxations over penalties associated with stubble burning, including others.The farmers also want the withdrawal of the Electricity Bill Amendment Bill 2020.Though the list of the demands of farmers is quite long, five of them are deemed as important.

6.Home Minister Amit Shah not to attend BSF raising day event

Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Tuesday decided not to attend the BSF''s raising day event as an "important official work" has come up, officials said. Shah was supposed to the chief guest at the 56th raising day event of the Border Security Force being held in the outskirts of the city.

7. Earthquake of 3.9 magnitude jolts Haridwar

An earthquake of magnitude 3.9 on the Richter scale occurred near Haridwar in Uttarakhand on Tuesday. As per the National Centre for Seismology (NCS), tremors were felt at 9:41 am at a depth of 10 kilometres, about 22 kilometres west-northwest of Haridwar.

8. UP orders convicts on parole to return to jail

The Yogi Adityanath government in Uttar Pradesh has decided not to further extend the parole of convicted prisoners.An order has been issued to the prison department to ensure that all convicts return to jail. It may be recalled that in May this year, the state government had released 2,256 convicts on the directives of the Supreme Court.

9. Sensex rises over 120 point in early trade; Nifty tops 13,000

Equity benchmark Sensex climbed over 120 points in opening trade on Tuesday, as better than expected GDP data strengthened market sentiment amid unabated foreign capital inflows. The 30-share BSE index was trading 126.62 points or 0.29 per cent higher at 44,276.34.

10.Cyclone: IMD asks people of southern Kerala to remain vigilant

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a pre-Cyclone watch for South Tamil Nadu and South Kerala coasts predicting that weather conditions there could intensify into a Cyclonic Storm in coming hours.
